Summer Slurpies

Wednesday Jessica and Mamaw decided to make slurpies. Jessica is studying recipes on how to make ice cream and frozen yogurt but Mamaw told her just slurpies today since she'd just got home from the grocery store and hadn't had a chance to put everything away yet.

First up was Dr. Pepper for Mamaw and Jessica. It's churning away in there turning the Dr. Pepper into a frozen treat.

Jessica is keeping a vigilant, very impatient eye on the process.

Now that it's done it definitely needs a stir before being poured out. Then I can start my Mt. Dew slurpy!

Finally they are ready to enjoy the fruit of their labors.

Bottoms up ladies!

A Must Try Recipe

Crescent Cinnamon Rolls

Ingrediants:

Canned Crescent Rolls
Granulated Sugar
Cinnamon
Butter
Regular Size Marshmallows

Directions:
Preheat oven according to directions on crescent rolls. Lay out cresent rolls on baking sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Melt a quarter of a stick of butter and fill a little (really little) bowl with cinnamon and sugar. Roll a marshmallow in the melted butter then roll in the sugar/cinnamon mixture then place in the center of a crescent and roll it up as normal to form a croissant. Once all are rolled up on cookie sheet you can drizzle leftover butter and a little sugar/cinnamon on the top.
Bake according to package (should be about 10 min) and serve immediately.

They are delicious!!!!!!!!!!!! The thing I most love about this recipe is that kids can do it because it is super easy and super fast. Plus not a long wait time for cooking. So cook some up and enjoy!

Sewin Stitches

So, this year along with a couple of the girls from work I have learned the process of quilting under the expert guidance of our boss Kim. There are LOTS of steps to making a quilt! First you start with a pattern (you'll never make it without one lol) and then you cut tons and tons of squares according to the pattern. Then once you've cut all these little sqares they get sewed to other pieces to make bigger squares, then all the squares get sewn together to make rows. Here I am on the day I completed my rows. Very exciting!!!!

Once the rows are sewn it is very important to lay it all out so that you can see exactly how it lines up and see how you will sew the rows together.

Somehow the pictures got a little bit out of order. Above is my presser foot in the down position as I get ready to take my first ever quilting stitch. And below is the finished top. Not sure why the picture above this jumped up two spots but rather than reload them all I've decided to confuse you instead. :)

O and notice the pillowcase I made to match. I'm putting my newfound sewing talents and my scraps to good use.

Here is a self picture (I'm sure you couldn't tell) of me during the quilting process. This is before I realized that this machine is really not made for quilting and got really frustrated. There was no more smiling after that.

But finally after much cutting, stitching, ironing, and binding (did I mention ironing?) here is the finished product. Kim and I are holding up Jessa's new quilt. I couldn't have done it without Kim!!! As a matter of fact I probably won't be able to do it a second time without Kim! Thank goodness she loves to help us :)

And here is the 100% finished product. Enjoy daughter o' mine.

Honda Kids

The Letters are done and up on the wall. A customer helped us place them on the wall. It was fun.

I know I posted once before what they looked like, but it's always cuter once they are done and on the wall.

ABCDEFG

On Wednesday Mike and I had fun sanding letters for the kids room at Mistlin Honda. Mike helped me sand the most difficult letters then escaped the HOT weather and went inside.
Me looking terrible (ugh so ugly! but in my defense I was painting!!!!) I'm working on the letters. It was so hot outside the letters were dry in about 30 seconds.

I'm making progress. One more coat to go before they are finished.

So, excited they are decorated now and finished. Once they dry overnight they'll be ready to hang on the wall.

Honda....

Game 3

Game Three of the Tournament arrived to the tune of 105 degrees. Thankfully the girls played on field one so there was plenty of shade and it didn't even feel that hot. Of course they were all in the sun so they might not share that opinion.

Jess is playing outfield. The enemy has a couple of really good hitters, but no one as good as ours.

Maddie on 2nd base getting ready to run for it.

Jess is one behind her running from first to second. Go Jess Go. Faster, Faster.

And when it was all said and done the other team won by one point. So the girls are giving them a shout out.

Go Express!!!

Good Game, Good Game!!!!!!!!!

Au revoir 2011 Softball Season.

O How I Wish It Were Fall

Summer is not my favorite season and already I am longing for the days when fall gets here and the trees become beautiful again. Fall mean football begins, school begins, my favorite holidays begin and comfy, cozy sweaters can be worn all day. All the best things happen in fall.

I wish I could fly north for the winter and escape this disgusting 105 degree weather.

Bleach Blond

Little known fact...once upon a time I let Mike bleach my hair. The front has bleached strips as well as more huge chunks throughout. Of course it was nothing compared to Mike's bleached hair. His actually doesn't look half bad. Mine however was a disaster. (I'm way to pale to pull that off) and it ended with a trip to the salon where Faye fixed it. It is the only time I've ever had my hair bleached and unless a really profitable dare comes my way will most likely be the last.

And strangely enough this is only one of about ten pictures of the three of us together. Yikes!

Back in Time

Well thanks to Amy and Shannon I have not only updated my blog (three times as requested) but I have also learned all kinds of fun things that can be done that I never knew about! Exciting stuff.

So since Miss Amy Lee demanded (haha) three posts by Monday I decided to travel back in time and give you all a good laugh.

Wait for it....

And....

Is there anything worse than eighties glasses, pink eyelet lace and mom given haircuts? Hmm, I'm sure there are but still these rate right up there!!

Tournament Time

Beginning of Tournament Week. Game 1. The girls are warming up getting ready to go out there and play ball. Good luck Hot Rods!!

In between catches Jess smiles for the camera...never one to miss a photo op.

Madison and Jess get their arms warm by playing catch.

All set to start this game. Madison is in the ready position at third. Jess is ready at 1st and all the other girls are ready somewhere on the field.

Chillin' in the dugout waiting for their turn. Definitely the Hot Rods two hardest hitters. Look out Express these girly girls don't mess around!

Jess is up to bat. She swung hard and it was a line drive out past second. (Is there such a thing in the 9-10 league? Who knows but it sounded good.)

Made it to first now just need three more bases to score a run. Go Jess Go!

Water Wars

On Wednesday we had some fun in the sun. Trying to stay cool in the 95 degree weather, we broke out the water balloons and sprinkler. It was nice and refreshing. Nanny and Jessa are playing some catch. Nanny tried and tried to break one on Jess but they just kept bouncing right off of her. Nanny took quite a few bullets though.

Jess getting ready to "lob" one at Nanny. Look out Nanny!

Retaliation is sweet! Jessica better watch out because Nanny is gunning for her!
