Emma's Blanket

So, for my cousin Emma's first birthday I made her a little blanket.  It turned out pretty cute.  Mike is holding it up for me so I can get a good picture.

I tied it with little pink embroidery threads.  I love the little fairy girls!
I sewed little patches on the back.  Then when I was all done I realized I sewed my quiliting line on the little fairy girl.  Oopsy Daisy!  Oh well...nobody is perfect ;)
I think Emma's mommy liked it more than Emma, but hopefully Emma will grow to love it.  Either way I have discovered through my two quilting endeavors that I LOVE to sew!

IN HONOR OF FALL

In honor of my favorite season being just around the corner here are a few quotes about FALL....

"I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house.
So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.
-  Nathaniel Hawthorne

"Delicious autumn!  My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth
seeking the successive autumns."
-   George Eliot

"I love fall! Fall is exciting.
It's apples and cider.
It's an airborne spider.
It's pumpkins in bins.
It's burrs on dog's chins.
It's wind blowing leaves.
It's chilly red knees.
It's nuts on the ground.
It's a crisp dry sound.
It's green leaves turning
And the smell of them burning.
It's clouds in the sky.
It's fall. That's why...
I love fall."

Jaime's Bridal Shower

Yesterday we had a Bridal Shower for Jaime at work.  It was nice to all be able to get together and celebrate something fun.  Jaime loves monarch butterflies and that's kind of the theme for her wedding so we stayed with that for the shower.
We had a ton of food!  I was so fun I thought my tummy would explode.
Here the gang is (minus me) getting ready to dig in.
Jaime opening her gifts.  We all chipped in and got her a crock pot, recipe book and oh look a money stew!
Jaime is taking a look at all her new recipes.  "Oh crap I guess I'll have to start shopping", she says.
Here we all are together.  Fun!  From left to right, back row first: Connie, Amy, Me (Amanda), Chris, Diann, Kim, Shannon, Natalie, Jaime and Janice
Jaime loved her butterfly card from Chris.

COLOR THE SKIES

On Sunday we went to Color the Skies in Ripon.  As much as I hate to be a complainer and on the blog to boot...I have to say it.  They didn't even launch a balloon!  If it weren't for the fact that it supports a charity I would say what a rip off.  Needless to say it was disappointing not to see any balloons take off, but it was neat to see them inflate and deflate them.

The balloons are even prettier up close when you can see all the detail.
Jess enjoyed seeing the balloons take shape.  They get bigger and bigger then suddenly they go from laying there sideways to popping up straight.
We all agreed the highlight of the morning was meeting this service dog, dubbed "Louie", as we had just watched Rio the night before.  He is a volunteer at the Children's Hospital, although he is just a puppy so volunteering is still pretty new for him.
Here we are right before we decided to call it a morning.  You can see the excitement radiating off of us I'm sure.
